It’s on again. Model Camp. A chance for any aspiring models or just people who would like to learn about modelling to get themselves a full portfolio of photos created from nothing. All photos taken by me while professional freelance model Yasmin teaches you all the ins and outs of portfolio presentation, set etiquette, legal and safety obstacles as well as how to just be cool.

We have two full day sessions filling up for the 11th and the 18th May so get in touch before they all fill up. Do one or do both as they have different outcomes and stylists!

Bondi Kids

Summer is coming to an end though the sunshine still managed to give us more than perfect conditions down at Bondi with the kids partaking in my latest photography workshop for Waverley Council. Thanks to all my super enthusiastic students. Keep working on those great beachside portfolios!

Disgusting minds you all have….

Now you see, what we need is your pink and blue items for props and scenery in our upcoming short film about a young couple madly in love.

She is pink.

And he is blue.

If you have anything whatsoever that is pink or blue and you are happy to loan it to our production, we will take good care of it and return it to with love and gratitude. You’ll even get your name in the film just to really say a special than

ks.

We are after anything at all that you have. Blue clothes, pink shoes, blue car, pink bike, blue desk, pink curtains and bedspread. If you live in a pink or blue home or work in a pink and blue office, then share that too. We will take good care of you.

When you have found your things and want to share, email the me on rhys@upstairstudios.com or the producer Jenna Bowden on jenna@upstairstudios.com and tell us what things you have. We film through the first two weeks of November so would need them for that period.

Well plans for a quiet winter were not quite realised with so many jobs to keep onto top of that my little blog here was neglected.

But alas, I am still so happily busy with photo shoots for Maxxfit, videos for PACT centre for emerging artists, documentation of the third William Fletcher Foundation award, Rugby League Experience promos and a heap more, that I really don't know where to begin in terms of catching up on this. So Ill just shoot you a few more examples of what I have been creating this last month or so….

Biennale 8 x 8 Public Programme

As part of the collaborative process of the 8 x 8 program, artists are encouraged to formulate a creative public programme for people of all sizes and ages to come and learn a little more about the works and the philosophies behind them. This helps the audiences to understand the works but also is meant to be a lot of fun too.

Dzenita Semic and myself are putting on a wee little show on August the 18th at 2pm and we would love you all to be there. What we are aiming to do is create an additional piece for our art

work which will combine the memories of all those who attend. What will the final piece resemble? Who knows. It will all depend on the people who attend.

So what we need from you is to find an item from your childhood. Could be a teddy bear, floral dress, action figure, stamp collection or simply just a photo. Then get your good looking booties down to Casula Powerhouse on August 25th at 2pm where we will all work together to collage them into one big nostalgic mess. Should be a tonne of fun so bring the family.

Biennale 8 x 8 Officially Open

The Biennale's side project, 8×8 (read previous blog post for more details) is officially open at the Casula Powerhouse.

The grand opening took place last Friday with the Mayor of Liverpool delivering a welcome speech followed by students and facilitators recounting their experiences.

The night was a great success with the young artists learning the magic of how to schmooze with the grown ups. The networking seemed to have paid of for many of the students who lined up

possible work from the night.

Thanks again to Lisa…err I mean Nisa Mackie, Will French, Edwina Hill, Nicole Austin, Jessica Haly and all the students who made this possible.

I am very grateful for being part of the whole experience and believe the stepping stone was a great boost for the aspiring group.

Please show your love and get down to the exhibition and be a part of the weird and wacky public programs that will be taking place every weekend in support of the works.
