I am such a sucker for good fun cosplay. Could be part of my background as a children’s entertainer but there is just something so careless about donning a costume and going out into the world looking like your hero. I am so glad that the Australian game industry is booming, anime is on every channel and people everywhere are indulging in so much fun and innocence.

The Oxford Arts Factory is doing a great job of supporting the gaming community so I tip my hat to you. All other bar owners take note.

If there are any professional cosplayers out there, I’d love to shoot some cool stuff for my catalogues so please get in touch!

And for all you hip kats out there who are yet to wear spandex in public, do it now and feel awesome. Much more awesome than in flannel and thick framed glasses!

The greatest time of year to be in town for Sydney Festival 2012!

Already the city has been lit up with Dj’s riding busses through central park, high flying trapeze artists swinging above Cathedrals and a Domain jam packed for headliner Mano Chao.

And just to help nurse you through the hangovers, there was a host of great arts and cultural events happening the next days.

Check out the video I just cut up quickly after seeing local artist Duke Box spit some mean lyrics in the back of the Carriageworks while some interesting holiday making caravans found their way into the main hall.

Or better yet, I can look up at the dusty poster on my wall that quotes Ernest Fischer “as machines become more and more efficient and perfect, so it will become clear that imperfection is the greatness of man”

Because after all the chaos and drama of last year, even with the crippling credit cards and on-line addictions, one thing is certain, last year was a heck of a lot of fun. And I can’t wait to do it all again.

Raise a glass to the new year and lets all laugh and grow fat together.

The world is changing, cultures are developing and we are seeing the meteoric rise of our island nation. While many like to gloat that we seem to have come out of the GFC without too much of a scratch, we choose to focus on the real positives that are going on in town.

Music and fashion!

Through the month of September, two events took place that really shone some light on the talents of our local folks.

First up is the StyleXpose fashion awards. A small runway competition devoted to promoting the creative talents of local clothing designers while also give the models a chance at grabbing a serious career boosting contract in the industry. The event was set up and run by North Shore resident, Amy Woodhead who put all the blood, sweat and tears her little blonde blonde could put in, never letting her wide eyed smile sink for a moment. The Sugar Lounge in Manly crammed out for the final which saw designer Catherine Leon take out best designer and Cara-Lee Weiss awarded the top model securing a contract to boost her career.

The next thing to happen was the Changing lanes festival in Devonshire Street Surry Hills. Jam packed with all things hip, it was good to relax in the afternoon sun and be absorbed by the wealth of local talent on show. Big Scary, Papp vs Pretty, Mikaelangelo and the Tin star, Lanie Lane, PVT, Gareth Liddiard and a heap more showed the people of Sydney what they already knew, that Australia is making some of the worlds best music right now.

I cant wait to post more over the summer as more and more great events take place showing of the cities finest crop.
