Upstair Studios is a small production house dedicated to producing colourful visual media for a brighter new world. Our portfolios involve both photography and videography ranging in styles from real to the surreal. It begun in high school with a few friends as a hobby but has been carried on through the last ten years by Rhys Votano and the creative people around him.

We shoot and create a range of new media such as music videos, live gigs, corporate, promos, TVC’s, weddings, ceremony’s, events, runways, documentaries, drama’s, interactive art spaces, visualizations and pretty much anything that requires lights and cameras.

Based in Sydney, we strive to promote the artistic talent of our fellow townspeople whilst simultaneously reminding the world what a distinctive and chaotic city we live in. It is easy for residents to complain about our backwards infrastructure, mobsters running the government and the colder winters, however we feel those small nuances are insignificant in comparison to the splendours of our vibrant and ever changing landscape.

Our small group of skilled technicians and creative artists don’t see their hard work as an obligation. We are all living the lives we hoped and doing the things we dreamed of doing as kids, so it comes as no surprise that we make our work a place of fun and spontaneous adventure.
